Most patients who seek treatment for the effects of aging would prefer to do it the less invasive way. Rejuran is among the recent additions to the roster of products in the market that will do just that, but with something special up its sleeve.
What is Rejuran?
Originating from South Korea, which is hailed as the world’s beauty capital, Rejuran is an injectable anti-aging treatment with polynucleotides (PN). Not your typical formula but it provides tremendous results.
Nucleotides are the building blocks of DNA. PN is a long chain polynucleotides gel and is a longer fragment of DNA than PDRN. Derived from salmon DNA, this component can help improve skin elasticity, texture, and hydration. It promotes healing effects that regenerate skin cells from deep within by working as a tissue scaffold.
PN is not commonly found in skincare products but is said to be beneficial for skin regeneration. It creates youthful-looking skin by stimulating a change from deep within. When administered into the dermal layer of the skin, it repairs damage, normalizes the skin condition, and encourages the cells to return to its healthy state.

How is it done?
A topical numbing cream is first applied to the skin to minimise pain or discomfort during the treatment. Once it takes effect, the skin is disinfected and the doctor will start to administer tiny amounts of the product using an injector gun or the manual technique. This will involve a few injections of 0.05ml of Rejuran, so expect small bumps all over your face.
The entire treatment will take approximately an hour to complete. Once the procedure is done, clinics offer their own soothing therapies to reduce the redness and swelling. It is advised that patients avoid going back to work immediately because there will be slight bumps which will take approximately 24 hours to disappear. There might hardly be any visible needle marks as the needle size is finer than that used in anti-wrinkle injections so patients will feel comfortable.
How does it work?
Rejuran is also called the “baby skin treatment” because it can help boost the skin’s own regenerating capacity for a naturally youthful appearance. It does so by stimulating the growth of fibroblasts that will generate more collagen and new cells to replace dry and damaged ones. It can also address skin sagging, fine lines, and wrinkles. This results in tauter and younger-looking skin with renewed radiance.
Rejuran helps improve conditions like eczema, acne-induced inflammation, and deep-set acne scars. Furthermore, it can also preserve the skin by preventing further damage as one ages. It is the treatment that can help turn back the clock for your skin.
The treated area will experience slight swelling, but it will also subside within 1-2 days. There will be some degree of redness and a small risk of bruising. Tiny injection marks may also be slightly visible, but this is unlikely as the needles that are used are even smaller than those used for anti-wrinkle injections (33G), hence making it very comfortable. These can be easily concealed with makeup the next day. Most patients prefer to have the treatment done after work on a Friday or Saturday so that by Monday, any swelling would have settled already.
The recommended treatment for optimal results is 3 sessions, once every month. It should then be followed through with maintenance treatments once every 6 months.
The process will take time to achieve visible results. Do take note that individuals react to treatment differently, which is why the extent of time where you can finally observe visible outcome will vary slightly.
