Enlarged Pores Treatment at Dr Tyng Tan Aethetics and Hair Clinic

One of the stubborn and challenging skin issues to address are enlarged pores. You might feel like you’ve tried everything, but are clueless when choosing the right products which only makes matters worse.

Dr Tyng Tan Aesthetics and Hair Clinic offers medical aesthetic procedures such laser resurfacing and chemical peels that can make pores appear smaller with a lasting effect. Non-ablative laser treatments increase collagen production which tightens pores, causing them to look smaller. A glycolic acid peel, on the other hand, help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores.

What Causes Enlarged Pores?

1. Genetics
2. Oily skin
3. Poor Hygiene
4. Sun damage
5. Loss of collagen, elastin and water in the skin

Pores are necessary for the skin to breathe and produce natural skin oils to protect against dehydration. However, having enlarged pores makes the skin look unhealthy and unhygienic. It also magnifies any dirt and grime that are clogged inside, and with all that happening, blackheads and whiteheads are bound to form.

The Treatment

Medical Lasers can be used to effectively reduce pore size, especially in areas such as the nose, cheeks and forehead.

A recent study shows that fractional photothermolysis — a form of laser therapy — is successful in not just treating acne scars but also temporarily reducing pore size. The procedure sloughs off the outer layers of the skin and clears debris within the pores.

No Downtime

This treatment no longer requires any downtime, and patients can readily resume their usual activities after the procedure.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FIND THE ANSWERS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR!
READ OUR FAQ’S ON ENLARGE PORES TREATMENT AT DR TYNG TAN AESTHETICS AND HAIR CLINIC.

1. HOW CAN I PREVENT PORE ENLARGEMENT?

Maintaining healthy skin condition requires the most basic skin care steps. The same is also true when you aim to avoid enlarged pores.

a. Use a gentle cleanser when washing your face, and remember to do it regularly. Warm water can help when lathering because it can help loosen the dirt and oil. Finish with a cold water rinse to shrink the pores.

b. Apply a moisturizer that suits your skin type.

c. Apply a broad spectrum sunscreen every day to avoid sun damage.

2. WHAT PROBLEMS CAN ARISE WITH ENLARGED PORES?

Enlarged pores can be a good spot where dirt, oil, and bacteria can build up. If not addressed this can result in whiteheads and blackheads. The buildup of bacteria can also lead to inflammation or pimple formation. Basically, it sets a domino effect that makes your skin vulnerable to damage.

3. WHAT ARE THE TREATMENTS AVAILABLE FOR ENLARGED PORES?

There are several treatments available for addressing enlarged pores, which involves the use of pore minimizing creams, exfoliants, gentle cleanser, and Alpha and Beta acids.

Aesthetic treatments, like microdermabrasion and medical facials, are also effective treatment options.

At Dr. Tyng Tan Aesthetic and Hair Clinic, however, we use laser skin resurfacing treatments to address enlarged pores. Because it works on stimulating new collagen in the deeper layers of the skin, this rejuvenating action can also lead to a reduction in pore size.

4. WILL I STILL HAVE THE RISK OF GETTING AN ENLARGED PORE SIZE AFTER HAVING TREATMENT?

Maintaining a finer pore size is dependent on good skin care. Failing to do so will only cause another oil and dirt buildup causing the pores to enlarge once again. Unprotected and prolonged sun exposure, on top of skin aging, can worsen the problem or might even cause it to reoccur.

5. ARE TREATMENTS FOR ENLARGE PORES SIZE EXPENSIVE?

The cost will vary depending on the amount of work that needs to be done, which can be affected by different factors. An in-person consultation is necessary so the doctor can thoroughly assess and decide on the intervention needed. This is necessary to get a customised quote for the entire treatment.

When you think of the total cost of the procedure, you not only factor in the benefit of reducing pore size. Along with it is the range of benefits that can also be achieved with the same treatment. So, you’re not just paying for reducing pore size, but also for overall skin improvement.

6. IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?

Generally, pore reduction treatment is tolerable. It creates a warm sensation on the target areas. The treatment doesn’t involve significant discomfort, but if it does, the doctor can adjust it accordingly.
