One of the stubborn and challenging skin issues to address are enlarged pores. You might feel like you’ve tried everything, but are clueless when choosing the right products which only makes matters worse.
Dr Tyng Tan Aesthetics and Hair Clinic offers medical aesthetic procedures such laser resurfacing and chemical peels that can make pores appear smaller with a lasting effect. Non-ablative laser treatments increase collagen production which tightens pores, causing them to look smaller. A glycolic acid peel, on the other hand, help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores.
What Causes Enlarged Pores?
1. Genetics
2. Oily skin
3. Poor Hygiene
4. Sun damage
5. Loss of collagen, elastin and water in the skin
Pores are necessary for the skin to breathe and produce natural skin oils to protect against dehydration. However, having enlarged pores makes the skin look unhealthy and unhygienic. It also magnifies any dirt and grime that are clogged inside, and with all that happening, blackheads and whiteheads are bound to form.
The Treatment
Medical Lasers can be used to effectively reduce pore size, especially in areas such as the nose, cheeks and forehead.
A recent study shows that fractional photothermolysis — a form of laser therapy — is successful in not just treating acne scars but also temporarily reducing pore size. The procedure sloughs off the outer layers of the skin and clears debris within the pores.
No Downtime
This treatment no longer requires any downtime, and patients can readily resume their usual activities after the procedure.
